Lukas Sweeney is a saxophonist/ music educator originally from Atlanta, Georgia. He is passionate about developing well-rounded musicians through a balance of technical precision, musical expression, and creativity. He holds a DMA in saxophone performance from the University of Florida, a Masters of Music from Texas Christian University, and a Bachelors of Music Education from Georgia Southern University.

As a teacher, Lukas has worked with students of all ages and experience levels, from beginners learning their first notes to advanced players refining their artistry. His teaching emphasizes building solid fundamentals while encouraging individuality, confidence, and a genuine love for music. Drawing from his experience in performance, academic study, and community engagement, he tailors each lesson to meet the unique goals of every student.

As a performer, Lukas has toured both domestically and internationally. He was a guest artist for the 2024 Mendoza SaxFest in Mendoza, Argentina and performed several recitals at universities and conferences like the Navy Band Symposium as a member of the Syndicate Quartet. He’s also had the privilege of sharing the stage with several world renowned saxophonists in both classical and jazz including Dr. Otis Murphy and Bob Mintzer.

In addition, Lukas has been actively involved in outreach and local performances, including working with diverse audiences in settings such as schools, community programs, and healthcare environments. He believes strongly in music’s ability to connect, inspire, and make a meaningful impact beyond the stage.

Lukas is based in Gainesville, Florida.
